There are a couple of new illustrations at Bright Future (Eidan's site; the link is here). More text has been added to Chapter 5. Perry is working on a couple of projects now. Both are giant-size pictures (a new one and a giant-size version of an old one). Simon has sent another interesting piece. This will probably appear soon. If you write or draw, drop me a line.

The fan-art site has been updated. If you'd like to see "Niklas Dragonborn" by Perry, it's currently on the front page. We've posted a large version (larger than most monitors). Scrollbars are provided so that you can scroll through the scene. You can also download the large version; there's a link under the picture title. Additionally, there's a small version (zoomed out so that you can see everything at once). Perry worked on the drawing for three weeks. It came out well. The characters are explained in the text under the large version.

Our latest project is a new site. It's for general writing and illustrations, but there's some Niklas content. If you visit the site, you'll find: * The first new March "aliens" story in about five years, "Cat Kid from Outer Space". The title character was introduced in Perry's recent drawing "Niklas Dragonborn". Note: This story will appear on the Niklas beta site as well. * A short script by Simon from 1998, inspired by Jason's thoughts about growing up. * Three new drawings by Perry related to the writing. There's two full-size illustrations for the "Cat Kid" story and an interesting piece called "Reflections on Change" to accompany the script. * Six general drawings by Perry. This site will be one of the places to see Perry's non-Niklas work. Take a look; some of these are personal favorites. * An essay on "Where Does Niklas Live?" by James. So there's a story, a script, an essay, and nine drawings. Not a bad start. Everything is at the following link: winterofthesoul.medianewsonline.com/If you'd like to contribute stories, drawings, or essays yourself, PM me or send mail to the address below. Note that submissions will be edited. jvanmason@yahoo.com

A new version of the Hallowniklas scene has been posted. Some characters have been added but the main difference is that it's a single giant-size panel with a new background. The new version is on the front page at this link.. The old version is still on its page. Additionally, the Saturday Morning Niklas drawing has been updated. The new version is giant-size and adds several characters (including Astro Boy, Gravity Girl, Kimba the White Lion, and Underdog). To revisit Saturday Morning, click here. Here's part of the revised Hallowniklas scene. For the full scene and the Saturday Morning update, visit the fan-art site:

yeah, a really nice one, but i'm still waiting for some more "old styled" Niklas drawings... personally i prefer more realistic scenes, but i like those fantasy and science-fiction drawings too. on the pic above Keith looks really good. but i would give him a old .44 magnum revolver rather than a laser gun... maybe because I prefer a solid piece of steel, and I still feel uncomfortable with those new, weird laser devices from other end of the galaxy ;-)
James said:
These are all valid points. Keith said he likes the fancy gun though because of all the built-in gadgets. It's lighter than a .44 too. On the other hand, a .44 doesn't need batteries.
