ravengrim; Well, the stuff you can find about barry Blair by googling is pretty much limited to his more recent (and rather bizarre) online stuff, and i was thinking more of his art style back in the 1980s, when he did such (non-sexually-explicit)comic books as Dragon Ring and Elflord. In the latter especially, where elves were depicted as boys much like Niklas and friends but with pointed ears (but also a propensity for dying horribly like redshirts on Star Trek if they weren't the main characters). Your story reminds me of some of his storyboarding in Elflord.Clear differences of course, but similar enough to make me wonder if they were an influence on you. Anyway it was meant to be a compliment, in case you were wondering - depending on what you saw of his artwork online, you might indeed have wondered. his stuff got... kinkier and kinkier, to say the least, as time went on. I was indeed wondering... Just checked out some of the covers of Elflord, this may indeed look similar And on my search I found the "Elfquest" comics. I don't know how it's related to Barry Blair, maybe I found it only because of the similar name. However, I found out that it can be read online. It's really cool and I'm afraid I will spent too much of my time with reading it than finishing my own Niklas comic haha Ravengrim: Oops.I forgot to answer your question. What I use for drawing is.... Microsoft Word/Office. And yes, I have been told on numerous occasions already about how extremely unusual that is!!! I gather i'm the only person in the entire world dumb enough to use that program exclusively for drawing; I've never adapted to any other - for 2D art anyway. But there you have it. Well, I think it's not a bad program for drawing even when it's not designed for that... assuming you do not have a drawing tablet. But if you have one, you really should get Photoshop or the free program GIMP, which is very good as well If you use the mouse for drawing, you may check out Inkscape. It's a very good free vector graphics program. And you have my respect for making so good looking arts with a program like Word. Anyway my favourite "program" for drawing is pencil and paper But if you want to colour the drawings then, you either must have good colouring skills with colour pencils/pens (what I don't have) or you have to scan the page and do it digitally which also takes a lot of time. That's why I draw with Photoshop mostly. Eidan: Where is the links/new stories tab? I mean, on which site at all? Btw, I did upload the 6th page.

Ravengrim and all: It's a button at the top of the Niklas Mirror/new Niklas page. It's right under to cartoon of the town. If you press that you'll see a link to a few of the more recent stories. If you go down tot he bottom of the page, you will see a pointing finger that says "There are More Stories Here!" in yellow. (Id put this link at the top, but it keeps wanting to go to the bottom) If you press on it, you'll go to the new, "new stories" page. This will lead to the most recent stories, such as the all new "Out of the Dark" by Chaos, A grumpy old man is there because of the recent chapters added and even more recent art, and I couldn't resist... your story is there too so ppl can find it more easily in addition to your posts here that alert us to new additions, if that's alright with you. The New Stories page is the fist place to look for new comics. I'll try to make it obvious if new content has been or is being added. For those who don't know, "Out of the Dark" and "Viking Story" are both new and are presently being updated constantly, whenever possible, sometimes daily, or even more often when and if circumstances permit.

Yes, Elfquest is indeed a very good comic book series. In fact, imo it is the best fantasy comic book series ever. I'm happy to have introduced them to you; even if it means having delayed my seeing more of your own artwork a bit. Blair did not create Elfquest, but he contributed stories to it. You'll find his stories and art in the New Blood series of Elfquest titles and the Forevergreen story arc - both available on Elfquest online. You may recall one of my drawings called 'niklas new Blood', and another called 'What if Barry Blair drew Niklas and friends' (both of which can be seen in my gallery on this site). The first depicts niklas and friends acting out a scene in New Blood, while the other shows characters from Elfquest (and a few other barry Blair titles but mostly Elflord) portraying Niklas and friends characters. In both Niklas gets tied up, because Niklas has been portrayed as liking to be tied up more than once and such tie ups of boys/boy-like elves are a rather frequent plot device from a Barry Blair story. I'd add attachments showing scenes from Elflord depicting the characters in a sailing ship (the main reason I compared your artwork to Blair's) to show you how similar his artwork could be to your style, but i am having the same trouble with attachments as i have been having putting in my own avatar. Firefox keeps blocking my every attempt by blocking pop-ups, even though i selected the allow pop-ups option. Btw I use Gimp too, but more for blending artworks that are not my own rather than drawing per se - as when i made that Jonny Quest webcomic a while back.

Hmmm... any chance you ever watched a 1997 made for TV movie version of The Odyssey? Your monster reminds me of that movie's portrayal of Charybdis (except it's smaller). Then again, it also resembles a sea-going sarlaac.

No, I didn't see this Odyseey movie. Did you ever see Pirates of the Carribean? Because my monster is inspired by the kraken there somehow
