This is an alternate forum for the Niklas site and project. The original forum will continue to operate.
If you'd like to have an original avatar drawn, email or PM me.

What are [ Exalt | Smite ] for? Exalt is used to express approval of a post. Smite is used to express disapproval. This should be reserved for posts that are problems. It shouldn't be used for ordinary disagreements.

It shouldn't be used for ordinary disagreements. And if those buttons are continually misused by a member, that member will be banned. If they keep on being misused, not only will the offending members be banned but the buttons may be removed. I definitely do not want the proboards staff to have to bother about inappropriate or prurient posts here, so moderation will be performed when required. Or, to paraphrase my dreambook, I created this proboards forum and I will moderate it (with the help of James, here). Like it or lump it.

Long-time fan of Niklas, I was happy to come through this forum ;D I have been writing a Niklas-inspired story for some time, and am also interested a lot in 3D scene-building, so this looks to be a good place to be Seeya!

Long-time fan of Niklas, I was happy to come through this forum ;D Glad to have you on board. There's not much activity at the new forum yet (this one), but it will evolve over time as the various Niklas sites continue to add content. If you're a long-time Niklas fan, you may remember March and Jonathan. They're still around; in fact, Jonathan is the head admin for this forum. I don't think you and I have talked before but I was the editor for most of the recent stories, including Jonathan's "Dark Past", March's "Cat Kid", and Eidan's "Bright Future". Note: Eidan is a new writer and 3D artist. You may see a 3D animation by him soon. We'd be pleased to look at your story and possibly host it. Illustrations would be included. Rules are posted in other threads but essentially come down to content and license issues. Niklas themes are encouraged but stories may be edited for content. The license will be Creative Commons. Additionally, let me know if you'd like to work on the main Niklas site as an editor or translator. You may also find the Glenwood Wiki worthwhile; that site is under construction and will be announced after more pieces are in place. Based on your avatar, I gather you're a Barry Blair and/or Elfquest fan as well as a Niklas fan. Related fan artwork has been posted in the past and you'll see more in the future.

I sent you the first chapter at your yahoo account. See you! Answer from James:Thanks for writing. I've received the chapter and mailed you a reply.

Hello, I'm new here. I just found the Niklas&Friends site a week ago. I've read all comics so far. I really enjoyed reading it and I admire the talent of the author, he created a magnificient story. And I noticed, he stopped his work years ago. Since then some work was done by fans but this community is obviously quite small. And that's a pity. These fantastic stories deserve more. I don't know, but I assume this site and the comics are rather unknown. In the editorial the author said: "If you watched this part of my site, you may have noticed that I stopped working on it. Too much work for just a few people who came and disappeared again." I must admit, I am a big fan of the characters now but it seems this great tale will be forgotten soon. And that's very sad. My idea was to make it more public. Share this stories with the whole world to get more people's attention to honour the author, whose ambitious effords didn't get rewarded as they would deserve it. Therfore I strongly recommend to create an account on the world's largest online community of artist and art-lovers, deviantART: www.deviantart.com/Put the comics on there. It really breaks my heart to see these stories as unknown side note... Whoever is responsible for the site now, please tell me what you think about it. Kind regards, Ravengrim

Thanks Ravengrim. Not many people post here yet. They mostly post on the dreambooks forum.
Some efforts are being made to expose the NaF stories to a larger readership, but it needs to be done slowly and carefully to avoid the problems which caused the author to give up writing the original stories.
I don't think that deviantart would be appropriate for the original Niklas art since the author is no longer doing the stories. It may be appropriate for some of the people who are doing fanart, but that's up to them.

Hello, it's me again I see, there is barely anything new here. When I first read the comics I was inspired to make some fanart comic, but unfortunately I lost interest in it. Now I stumbled upon these pages of my Niklas Viking story again and I thought, even if it's not finished at all, I should share it. Drawing this was quite demanding but fun, too. Maybe I will finish the comic some time... It's only 3 pages so far (hopefully the link will work) www.dropbox.com/sh/ac1ag2dkm3pe72w/oSbBXC3iWWEDIT: I've put the link also in my signature.Eventually some words to the comic itself: You may excuse bad English, I don't know if its all right but if you find any mistakes please note me. And yeah, the names are not very original variations of their real names, I tried to make them sound some Viking-like. regards, Ravengrim

Hi! Excellent work, Ravengrim ! Your drawing style is awesome, it really keeps the 'old' style of Niklas comics . I see that You did quite a lot of work here, and that You tried (and you did it well!) to draw the characters in a style as similar to the originally drawn by "Niklas" as you could . I really like your work. If You continue to draw the comic, I will be more than happy to read it, and I also offer my help, if you want your work to be translated to Slavic languages, like : Polish , Croatian, or Serbian. the same i offer to any story that you would write .
I think (wah, i Know) that a lot of people here, and not only here would really like to see the continuation :-)
With greetings and best new-year wishes, Anthony.
P.S. Being able to read this short fragment was one of the best Christmas presents that I've got this year. Good luck with the continuation ;-D .

Ravengrim,
Your art style is very good and you've captured the unique appearance of each of the characters very well. They are instantly recognisable as Niklas, Jason and Fabian.
Your general art also is very good. The clouds and the ocean waves are drawn with feeling, so that the viewer almost feels like he's there with the characters.
The only thing I think needs to be changed is where Niklas is saying "When we hit...", I think you meant "If we hit..." since the first expresses it as a certainty while the second expresses it only as possible.
Please keep drawing. I'd like to see more. And if I may offer a suggestion, when the story ends, perhaps you can show Niklas and his friends with wooden swords and dustbin-lid shields playing in Niklas' back yard and have it that the story you've just told was all in their imagination.
I think that would help to link the characters to the original Niklas and Friends continuity and it would certainly be in accord with the way the Niklas world works.

Thank you all for the kind words It's a very good motivation to finish this comic. The only thing I think needs to be changed is where Niklas is saying "When we hit...", I think you meant "If we hit..." Of course! Thank you for the hint, I changed it I'm continuing the story again now, though it will take quite a while to finish it, because I'm not used to draw characters in this style. But it is still fun drawing it and I will look forward to bring out the next pages. And if I may offer a suggestion, when the story ends, perhaps you can show Niklas and his friends with wooden swords and dustbin-lid shields playing in Niklas' back yard and have it that the story you've just told was all in their imagination. Actually I planned it similar; Niklas dreamed this all, he was asleep while they went boating on the river and finally he wakes up when they land the boat on the riverside. regards

Hello. Let me first introduce myself a bit ^^ Well, I´ve discovered the Niklas Comics about 3 years ago and instantly was a huge fan. I love the stories too, but, really, the comics are just awesome. I´ve read all the comics and almost all of the stories now, but I haven´t been on the page for about a year, thinking that it became inactive. Well, today I decided that I want to come back and found this forum. I saw the link to the new website and I see that something is happening. But it looks like the only thing happening is design and fan-art... What I wanted to ask is if there are any comics in work. I mean comics that are just like the old ones (I actually doubt it since the last one is from 2006). I don´t know why the new releases stopped one day. Did - whoever was drawing the graphics - retire? Because if that´s the problem, I would really like some comics drawn by Ravengrim. His drawings really look like the original ones. Respect. I´m hoping for a reply Thank you!

Ravengrim: I can't believe I missed your art. It's really good. If you do more I'll make sure it gets seen if you like. You really did a good job. Congratulations. Enemy: You'll have your own response in just a few minutes.
